What we store, and where it stays.

Last updated 23 October 2026.

The short version. A child's practice record is written to the browser on the device they practise on. It is not sent to us, we cannot see it, and there are no accounts, no analytics and no advertising anywhere in this site or the Lab.

Who runs this

Able Minds Lab is made by Mijares Group Learning, in Nebraska. It was built by a parent for one child. If you have a question about anything on this page, write to [email protected].

The practice record

When a child uses the Lab it keeps track of what they tried and what they got wrong, so the next session can be aimed at the right thing. That record includes the words and patterns attempted, whether each was right, the dates of practice, and reading scores an adult types in.

That record is written to your browser's local storage on the device you are using. It never leaves the device. We have no server that receives it, no database that holds it, and no way to look at it. If two people use the Lab on two devices, those are two separate records that know nothing about each other.

It follows that we cannot recover a lost record. Clearing your browser's site data, using private browsing, or switching devices will lose it. The Lab can save a report as a file, and that file goes wherever you choose to put it.

We do not ask for a name

The Lab never asks for a child's name, date of birth, school, email address or photograph, and there is nowhere to type one. If an adult types a child's name into a free-text box anyway, that text is stored the same way as everything else, on the device, and still never reaches us.

The password

The Lab is behind a password. When you enter it correctly, your browser is given one cookie named mgll_auth. It holds a signed token and an expiry time. It does not contain the password, your name, or anything else about you, and it is used for nothing except keeping you signed in for up to eight hours. It is deleted when you close the browser, and signing out deletes it immediately.

What reaches other companies

Two things, both ordinary, and we would rather name them than claim a purity we do not have.

  • Cloudflare hosts this site. Like any web host, its servers receive the request your browser makes, which includes your IP address, and records it in standard logs for security and reliability. We do not add any analytics on top of that.
  • Google Fonts supplies the two typefaces this page uses. Your browser fetches them from Google, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details when the page loads. This happens on the public pages. It does not happen inside the Lab itself, which loads no outside resources at all.

There is no Google Analytics, no advertising network, no social media pixel, no session recorder and no error-tracking service anywhere on this site.

Children

This is a tool for children, so it is built to hold as little as possible about them. We do not collect personal information from children. There are no accounts to create, nothing is transmitted to us, and nothing a child does here is used to build a profile, target advertising, or train anything.

Access is by password and is given to specific families. If you are a parent and want to know what is stored for your child, the answer is that it is on your own device, and the Lab's grown-up view will show you all of it.

Changes

If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. If it ever changes in a way that means something leaves your device, that will be said plainly and in advance, not buried here.
